The CIT Rapid Test (Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma) is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay for the detection of Desmethylcitalopram in human whole blood, serum or plasma at a cut-off concentration of 500 ng/mL.
Citalopram (ClT) is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRl) commonly prescribed to treat major depressive disorder and anxiety disorders. It works by increasing serotonin levels in the brain, helping to improve mood and restore emotional balance. Known for its high efficacy and relatively mild side effects - such as nausea, dry mouth or sxual dysfunction - it also has a lower risk of dug interactions than many other SSRls. However. citalopram carries an FDA warning for QT prolongation, meaning its maximum dailv dose is strictly limited to 40 mg to ensure cardiac safety.
